How to use the Local News Finder

  1. Choose a country. The United States is selected by default. We cover 195 countries.
  2. Pick a state or region, then a city. Leave the city empty to see the whole state.
  3. Press Find outlets. You get the local newspapers and news sites, TV stations and radio stations, grouped by type, with links to their websites.

Why pitch local newspapers first

Local news is the most reachable coverage for small businesses, founders and freelancers. Local editors need stories about their own city, and a local angle beats a generic national pitch almost every time.

  • Give it a local hook: a new office or store, local jobs, a local customer story, a city-level data point, an event.
  • Pitch the newsroom, not a random reporter: most local outlets have one general news desk address that editors read daily.
  • Keep it short: under 150 words, with the news in the first line. Use the free media pitch generator to draft it.

Local News Finder: FAQ

How do I find local newspapers near me?

Pick your country, then your state or region and your city, and press Find outlets. The Local News Finder lists the newspapers, news sites, TV and radio stations in our database for that place, with their websites.

Which countries does the Local News Finder cover?

It covers 195 countries and all 50 US states plus Washington DC, with more than 9,500 news outlets in total.

Does it show journalist emails?

No. The free tool shows outlet names, types and websites. Newsroom and journalist emails, and the one-click CSV download, are part of the Pro and Premium plans.

How is local news different from national news for PR?

Local outlets cover what happens in their city or region, so a local angle (a new location, local hires, a community event, local data) is often the easiest way for a small business or startup to get its first coverage.

Is the Local News Finder free?

Yes. It is free with no signup and no limit on how many places you look up.
